Superior supermarket hot-holding goes nationwide
Morrisons wanted to …
Improve hot-holding standards across all sites
Save on food waste, labour costs and energy usage
Simplify processes to improve efficiencies

Reinventing the supermarket experience
As the UK’s fourth largest supermarket chain, Morrisons were receiving significant negative feedback regarding their existing serve over hot food programme.
With almost 500 stores nationwide, they saw a great opportunity to redefine their food-to-go with Flexeserve’s unique products and expertise.
Having discussed their issues with our team of hot-holding experts at an industry event, they were keen to solve their pain points, which involved poor quality food, customer complaints and packaging that was no longer fit for purpose.

Exploring a real Solution
Flexeserve Solution is the only all-encompassing service for hot-holding. A fully immersive experience, Solution puts any customer’s foodservice operation at the centre of the Flexeserve specialists’ expertise.
Morrisons wanted a complete redevelopment of their programme, reviewing and enhancing everything from food menus to cook methods and packaging options.
Major results for Morrisons
At a glance, Flexeserve and Morrisons were able to achieve:
5 0 %
Reduction in food waste and complaints
4 5 %
Savings in energy costs
3 5 %
Increase in hot food sales

Another sell more, waste less success
At Flexeserve, we pride ourselves on our ability to help operators sell more and waste less across their entire food operation.
Working alongside Morrisons at their trial store, they benefited from a 35% increase in sales from their hot food counter, whilst customer complaints were significantly reduced.
The team also found that the efficiencies delivered by the award-winning Flexeserve technology reduced energy costs by 45%. Meanwhile, our extended hold times meant food waste was reduced to a minimum.
When combined, these results also meant stores gained wider profits and enabled staff to achieve total operational efficiency.
“Flexeserve has demonstrated exceptional professionalism and support in key areas, including packaging validation and testing, operational support and the efficient execution of the rollout programme. These efforts have resulted in an accelerated return on investment.”

Our ongoing support
Now that the full equipment rollout has been completed, updating almost 500 stores with the new hot-holding programme and Flexeserve Zone units, the support of our team can maintain these high standards.
We continue to offer refresher training to in-store teams, especially those with higher staff turnover, as well as ongoing health checks of our hot-holding units as needed.
The full rollout of Connect is expected to conclude in 2026 and will bring a new level of control to the Morrisons hot food-to-go programme.
